Continuous Improvement/ Lean Manufacturing Engineer

£45,000 basic + Bonus + Pension + Life Cover


Our Client a £Billion global aerospace component manufacturer has invested heavily in this well-established site. Due to continued ongoing expansion and process improvements in line with Group and global engineering goals. The aim is to achieve world class manufacturing status on this site.
This role will play a key role in implementing and achieving lean manufacturing business milestones.

Key Responsibilities
Facilitate successful "kaizen" events in line with business needs. Support all follow-throughs required and assist in sustaining improvement established during events. Monitor and close out issues
Manage OPEX audit process, using the system to drive sustainable improvements
Coordinate and deliver team-based and ABS training
Administer the suggestion scheme process and run monthly suggestion awards meeting
Own the Hoshin process within the business and support department heads with department hoshins
Act as internal consultant and catalyst to assist individuals and teams in the application of ABS, Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques to improve operations
Support manufacturing and engineering with waste removal in all processes
Develop the visual factory
Manage the ABS certification program within the site
Facilitate consistent/uniform approaches for visual controls and productivity measurements to be utilized throughout product teams and the factory
Assist team leaders in team skills to support meeting management, project management, improvements, results, etc.
Adhere to all company policies and procedures and environmental health and safety rules.
Work in a safe manner that promotes the health and well-being of the individual and the environment.
Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions
Effectively manage the productivity improvement program (Degrees of implementation)
Conduct complex analysis on which to base future site manufacturing re-alignment plan
Support the changes in the business strategy

Qualifications and Experience:
Degree/HNC in Manufacturing/Production/Engineering discipline
Demonstrate a sound knowledge of and commitment to Alcoa Business Systems principles and techniques
Six sigma/Lean qualified
Green/Black belt trained
Extensive experience in managing continuous improvement activities
People management, coaching and mentoring to support ABS implementation
Application of the Toyota Production System and key techniques 5S, 8W, A3, OEE, Daily Managemet, TPM
IT literate - competent in the use of Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Email & AutoCAD
