Our client is creating a fair and more resilient financial system, establishing more transparent relationships between financial services and their customers, building trust in financial markets. We are currently recruiting for a Senior Associate/IT Technology

The role & Company

In thedivision that isresponsible for providing specialist expertise, across all regulated sectors, and support to front-line supervisors. The work of the division is broad and has a significant impact across financial services market. It includes prudentially firms, protecting client money and assets, providing specialist financial crime technical support.

The type of support theteam provides includes:

- Supervision: assisting supervisory risk assessments of IT work within a range of firms we supervise, reviewing large business change projects and programmes and firms' responses to crystallised risk events.
- Authorisations: assessment of technology risk aspects of new firm applications or variation of permissions, and the operational implications of large change in control requests. This includes working with Project Innovate to understand the potential technology implications and risks, and opportunities, of fintech firms.
- Leading engagement in Europe and globally on external issues including: Payment Services Directive 2; EBA proposed guidelines on IT assessments within Supervisory Review and Evaluation Processes (SREPs); and liaison in the UK with HMT and other regulators.
- Stakeholder Management: support, and lead where appropriate, the cross Authorities resilience initiatives impacting our client's objectives e.g. National Risk Assessment (NRA), sector exercising etc.
- Thematic cross-sector review: industry-wide assessment of operational resilience and development of appropriate response frameworks.

This role

supports delivery of the portfolio of work described above to ensure their objectives of appropriate consumer protections, market integrity assurance and competition for the good of consumers are met. The job is an ideal opportunity to use your expertise in Technology Delivery and associated Risk Management whilst supporting their in the delivery of its regulatory objectives.

Assess IT and associated operational aspects of firms that apply for authorisation as a UK regulated entity. This would involve reviewing various dimensions of IT strategy (including security, resilience, adaptability, change and governance) to establish whether an applicant's IT and controls environment is adequate to support its Business Plan;

Assist Supervision firm reviews (desk and / or visits-based) as required to provide supervisors with a forward-looking, judgment-based assessment of a firm's IT and operational resilience arrangements including identifying mitigating actions where necessary;

Assist Supervision teams in responding to and assessing firms' responses to crystallised risk events;

Lead and/or collaborate on technology and operational resilience thematic work;

Provide subject matter expertise and act as a point of reference for colleagues both inside and outside the team;

Provide thought leadership in information technology, emerging practices and looming threats;

Support the development of the client's response frameworks;

the candidate background

- Knowledge of one or more recognised industry frameworks in IT management and control (ITIL, COBIT, ISO 27001, BS25999 ISO22301, etc.) (Specialist Standards)
- Practical knowledge of technology risk management domains (strategy; governance and risk management; security, data, change management; service delivery; resilience and business continuity) with experience in helping defining and/or attesting to each

Essential skills needed

- Significant IT project management, team or portfolio management experience in at least one client's-regulated sector (Banking, Insurance, Investment Firms, Asset Managers and Market Infrastructure Providers)
- Strong oral communication skills including clear and effective presentation to both internal and external audiences
- Good analytical capability
- Good interpersonal skills an ability to interact effectively with a range of stakeholder

Nice to have skills

- An industry-recognised qualification e.g. QiCA, CISA, CISM, CISSP, MBCI, PRINCE2, PMP/PgMP, etc. (Professional Industry Standards)
- General understanding new regulations for example Payments Services Directive II, Market in Financial Instruments II, Network and Information Security Directive would be an advantage (Specialist Standards)
