Overview

  • As a senior manager, you will player a key role within operations and manufacturing.
  • You will be responsible for managing a team of staff ensuring the smooth workflow is achieved utilising labour and equipment effectively to efficiently produce a high-quality product delivered on time whilst complying to health and safety requirements.
  • Continuous improvement is paramount, so a thorough understanding of lean tools and how they link to KPI's, using this information to proactively focus on driving the team and process to become world class
  • New product introduction is crucial to company growth and you will support and drive these through area of responsibility

Candidate Key Skills

  • Demonstrate a background of working within a CNC machine shop ideally within precision engineering production environment
  • Demonstrate experience of leading and managing a team of around 40 staff who work on various shift patterns
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Strong team player with the ability to influence others and lead a team
  • Strong Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written (in English)
  • Thorough understanding of Health and Safety requirements within the workplace
  • Possess a sound understanding of modern (LEAN) manufacturing methods and assembly techniques and demonstrable experience of continuous improvement and (LEAN) principles
  • Able to set targets, deadlines and objectives for each member of the team
  • Undertake appraisals and performance reviews as and when required, highlighting training and development needs and ensuring these are delivered and met
  • Ensure adequate training is maintained to achieve a flexible work force, able to cover absenteeism and changing business needs
  • Attend management meetings, also provide concise and accurate information for management reports
  • Monitor and manage feedback on manufacturing progress and identify actions necessary to include in production activity plans and to develop the tools and processes with which to do this
  • Develop and manage department budget including purchase of supplies
