The successful candidate will take a lead in developing health & safety policies and procedures to maintain the H&S culture for the business. They will be responsible for the delivery of hard and soft facilities management throughout all national sites. There will be a large focus on the Health & Safety aspect of this role. Experience in managing facilities in industrial and commercial sites will also be required.

Description

The successful facilities manager will be required to:

  • Create & implement effective operational health and safety policy and procedure business wide.
  • Educate the business in creating a safer working environment, reducing accident claims.
  • Recognise & implement changes in legal and legislative requirements, and provide appropriate education and training.
  • Define & direct the development of strategic health and safety implementation and application of health and safety environmental policies.
  • Support line managers in health & safety implementation.
  • Produce and present management information measuring business wide Health and Safety activity.
  • Lead comprehensive inspections, audits and risk assessments.
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are met for all contracts and projects, and act as safety/risk lead for all project management activity.
  • Align and deliver facilities management throughout all of the six sites, while delivering required quality and service levels.
  • Determine the correct strategic approach to manage facilities that meet the needs of each site and also gains a quality, service and cost benefit for the business.
  • Oversee the FM health and safety regimes and performance of contractors across all sites.
  • Manage internal and external suppliers to ensure correct focus in place for security, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Plan and oversee building work/renovation where appropriate.
  • Ensure that facilities adhere to UK regulations and any relevant health and safety standards.
  • Develop and manage KPIs /reporting tools for the sites to ensure effective management of the services within Facilities management.
  • Implement a supplier relationship strategy to drive improved performance and relationships.

Profile

Candidate Experience:

  • Experience in a health and safety environment, developing and implementing health and safety policy and procedures.
  • Lead and champion the H&S culture for the business to ensure the ongoing level of training / adherence is identified and rolled out across the whole workforce.
  • Experience of production & presentation of reports, briefings and training to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience of conducting comprehensive inspections, audits and risk assessments (including fire, COSHH etc.)
  • Experience of collating & analysing data, and interpretation of complex legislation.
  • Knowledge of H&S environmental and waste legislation/compliance.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workloads in a target driven culture and to work under pressure in a constantly changing faced paced environment.
  • Excellent ICT skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook and ability to quickly adapt to bespoke software packages.
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills. Deal with complex and sensitive issues effectively.
  • Hold a valid driving licence - no more than 6 penalty points - and travel to sites and attend meetings.
