Your new role
Assisting in all aspects of collision investigation and analysis to identify sites at which abnormal levels exist and to analyse overall trends, Helping design and implement cost effective remedial measures encompassing not only the conventional approach to specific sites, mass action programmes, route and area action plans but also innovative measures, Undertaking consultation exercises including; questionnaires, public exhibitions, presentations and focus groups with; members of the public, ward councillors, emergency services and other appropriate bodies, Using and applying current/relevant legislation, appropriate design standards, codes of practice and other technical advice notes relating to the field of Collision Investigation, Undertaking Road Safety Audits at Stages 1 to 4, Preparing and presenting reports for Traffic Management Unit, Lead Member briefings and Traffic Advisory Panel meetings. Additionally, prepare advice for Councillors, other Directorates, Divisions and the public, and to deal with general correspondence in relation to collision problems.
What you'll need to succeed
Experience in the design, implementation and supervision of all aspects of Casualty Reduction work, including Road Safety Audits (minimum 7 years). Having the relevant experience as per HD 19/15 so the role of Team Leader or Team Member can be covered when undertaking the formal safety audit of major and minor schemes. Experience in attending meetings, utilising good communication and presentation skills that encourage, motivate and explain issues clearly at all levels with other departments, authorities and in the public forum. Experience of producing clear, concise reports. Demonstrating experience working with minimum supervision and as part of a team. Demonstrating experience of having to make effective decisions and to support those decisions with reasoned arguments. Knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, standards and procedures. Experience in the use of relevant software such as Microsoft Office, AutoCad, MapInfo and GMAXI.
