Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer
Our client are a UK leader of steel finishing services including galvanizing, spin galvanizing, shot blasting and powder coating.
With eight plants across the UK, they serve a wide cross section of customers from large construction companies and fabricators, to fencing and agricultural specifiers.
Position: Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer
Contract type: Permanent following satisfactory completion of a three month probationary period
Hours: 38 hours per week basic, plus overtime and call out attendance as required
About the Role: Candidate will be working in a Hot-dip Galvanizing plant that is operated 24 hours over seven days on a shift system and also on weekends to meet on customer demand. Reporting into the maintenance manager, you will ensure that any repairs and servicing of all electrical and mechanical equipment, plant and machinery within the Division are dealt with efficiently and effectively, and ensure any breakdown repairs, PPM schedules or refurbishments are carried out with minimum interruption to the production process.
Due to the nature of the role, the standard work hours and shift pattern will be discussed at interview, and you will be required to participate in an agreed schedule for call outs and weekend working. Flexibility is critical to this role.
You will liaise with team to ensure spares are ordered before the last parts are used, and ensure prompt and efficient repair of broken machinery. You will hand over any information or work to the relevant team member/department to ensure the efficient running of the factory and log all breakdown information on the maintenance reporting system and file correctly.
Key plant equipment includes Extraction/filter plant system - PLC, inverter, motors, pneumatic, etc.; Water treatment system - PLC, pneumatics, motors, etc.; and standard manual control overhead crane systems - motors, inverter, etc.
About You: Candidates must be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of mechanical / electrical engineering with a bias towards electrical. Duties will include the installation and maintenance of overhead cranes, plant and equipment, preventative maintenance and routine refurbishment work. Therefore, candidate must have sound knowledge and experience in Three-phase electrical installation, including motors and inverters drives; possess excellent troubleshooting and fault diagnostic on PLC control systems, etc. Working at heights is a key requirement hence successful candidate should be comfortable operating a MEWP/Scissor lift or be happy to be trained to do so.
The ability to work as part of a team together with excellent attitude towards Health & Safety are pre-requisites of this role.
