Live - In - Private Chef - Wiltshire - £25k + (negotiable) [LTR 161]

We are looking for a Private Chef to join this HNW individual and their family.

This is a superb live-in position based in Wiltshire but you will often work in more than one location, including London, and may be required to travel with the client, either on business or on holiday.

You will have your own place - which can accommodate one person - or a couple maximum - although there is only one position available here, and there is no extra room available should you have children. Utilities, food etc are all paid for so cost of living will be minimal.

You will be required to cook for the resident couple and their family (2-4 people). The right person will be considered as not only an employee, but also as one of the family. So ideal characteristics are adaptability, calmness, discretion, ability to be invisible when required and you will have the ability to self-manage, comfort working around children, a personable character.

As the private chef, you will be responsible for shopping for food, menu planning and preparing and cooking meals for your employer(s) and guests. You will be need to be flexible and creative and adapt at understanding the needs and culinary likes/dislikes of your employer and their family. As Private Chef you will also need experience healthy and well balanced meals to provide a varied diet. This is a varied role requiring the sourcing of produce / ingredients as well as the ability to deliver bespoke health conscious meals.

Although not strictly kosher you will need to be aware of and understand the requirements of a Jewish family, and in particular for the religious celebrations, and no pork or other pig related products are allowed in the home.

Simple, beautifully prepared and presented fresh dishes are required.

Attention to detail is also crucial such as being aware of the risks of food allergies suffered by anyone they will be serving. You will be expected to show awareness of food safety and hygiene.

Job roles may include to undertake organise special events such as: lunch/dinner/birthday parties, shoot lunches, being an outdoor chef at summer BBQ's, drinks parties and so on. You will be in charge of organisation and supervision of larger dinner parties, bringing in assistance where needed.

As well as cooking other duties will include shopping, menu planning and kitchen management.

As part of the role, you may be expected to go to a residence in advance of the family arriving to ensure that everything is stocked up in accordance with their needs and that the place is clean and tidy. You will also from time to time be expected to meet and greet guests, and you will also be required to check the house over and answer telephone calls when the family is absent, so there is a small housekeeping element to the role. In addition, you will be responsible for managing household expenditure and stock, ensuring the PA is fully update with everything on the household side.

Other key skills:

  • Excellent knowledge of how to source the best ingredients in London.
  • Knowledge of Kosher food and ingredients is an advantage but not essential.
  • Able to cope with changing schedules, last minute guest numbers
  • Up to date knowledge of current dietary trends.
  • Able to work well with other staff members.
  • Work in an organised, clean and precise manner.
  • Complete clean down of kitchen and equipment before leaving.
  • Be well presented at all times.

Ideally, you must have some previous Private Chef Experience or similar, and experience developing menus is essential.

You must be able to provide 3 references (where possible) and a DBS check will be made on the successful candidate.

You speak fluent English & ideally have a full driving licence.
