Summary of role:

Responsible for delivering major bid and proposal programmes to capture future business for the organisation. Includes involvement in all aspects of customer requirements capture, solution development, generation of Statements of Work, bid and proposal preparation and delivery. Working within a small bid and capture team and interfacing with suppliers, internal engineering/operations team and customers.

Ability to structure complex bid packages, write and coordinate writing tasks to support bid packages. Ability to plan, scope and conduct complex proposals from initial 'find' to delivery of formalised bid package, presentations, Q&A etc. Ability to take successful bid packages and transition them into the company for product delivery.

The successful candidate should be educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline and have a proven track record of contract capture in an defence/aerospace or similar environment.

Minimum of 5 years relevant experience working with defence/aerospace or other complex systems, preferably including development or introduction of new capabilities. An understanding of military and or civil customers and a track record of successful working with same to develop or employ new systems would be a benefit. Experienced in building strong relationships with clients and customers to develop understanding of client needs and translate these into requirements / statements of work / bid & proposal papers.

Ideal background: Good understanding and knowledge of military process and experience within the defence/aerospace industry. Experience of managing or undertaking activities across the life cycle of the bid process and being used to delivering complex bids/projects to tight timescales. Experience of introducing new capabilities into service, and of integrating these within broader systems.


The candidate must be able to draw together "virtual" teams from across the business, supply chain and customer base and direct and influence these teams to achieve goals.

Personal Situation:

Able to commute reliably to office base. Able to work for extended hours on occasions when required. Must have clean or near clean driving licence. Be prepared to attend meetings at customer and supplier/partner premises (worldwide).
