As TechnicalAccount Manager you will maximise sales of my client’s products and services through building effective and successful customer relationships to improve company profitability. You will understand customer requirements and identify new sales opportunities, achieving sales and gross margin targets. You will maintain a good understanding or overall corporate objectives, appreciating how the goals of your group fit with the corporate aims.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

Target attainment - to be an integral part of understanding and setting business group targets, and devising both team and individual strategies to achieve targets and develop own area.

Sales and Marketing - to successfully manage customer accounts whist driving sales and maximising profitability for my client. To identify gaps in the customer portfolio and effectively align any offers for the customer. To be aware of the supplier offerings and target customer base where appropriate.

Technical Development - to learn and understand all applications for my client’s product range, including new additions to the range. This will allow development of new business with existing customers or with new customers in similar markets.

Communication - to effectively and concisely communicate all required information to management, colleagues and customers.

Key skills required:

  • Ability to identify and understand customer needs, within a technical environment
  • Ability to plan workload according to sales targets
  • General knowledge of the oils, additives or chemicals industry would be beneficial
  • Understanding of the use of oils and additives within industrial processes would be an advantage
  • Understanding the interface between sales and profit and loss margin
  • Ability to maintain an up to date knowledge of the product area and customer base within an industry subject to significant regulatory control
  • Excellent reporting skills - ability to understand sales figures and the reasoning behind them
  • Good attention to detail
  • Ability to respond quickly and accurately
  • Ability to develop relevant strategy with customers to ensure account growth and development
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office applications - including Powerpoint and Excel
  • Ability to assimilate large amounts of information and data quickly, translating into the working and market environment
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to recognise sales opportunities and act effectively to increase sales
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Strong English language skills, with high standards of grammatical accuracy

Qualifications and essential experience required:

  • Degree (or equivalent) in a business or science related subject
  • GCSE or equivalent minimum in Maths and English
  • Experience in sales account management within oils/chemicals industry would be a strong advantage
  • Experience in marketing projects management
  • Experience in business administration, including database management

Hours of work: Monday - Friday, 9.00am - 5.00pm (with some flexibility to meet customer needs)

Holidays: 25 days + bank holidays
