Sous Chef - Contract Catering - Job Summary

We are currently recruiting for a talented Sous Chef at an incredible venue. With an opportunity to delight customers by your quality and flair, you will have an absolute passion for fresh food. You will be working to a 45 hour contract mainly operating around day time hours as opposed to evenings, a rarity in this industry! You will thrive under pressure and enjoy working autonomously within a working environment that provides the best facilities to produce amazing quality food. You will play a big part in menu development and will have a direct influence on the offering so if you’re looking for a creative role this could be for you!

As Sous Chef you will assist the head chef with all the events, banqueting and fine dining experiences within this stunning venue. Alongside the head chef you will be managing the profitability of the business by providing consistently excellent food and exceeding guests service expectations. The role will also involve the day-to-day running of the kitchen, leading by example and driving the business forward.

Sous Chef - Contract Catering - Role Responsibility

Supporting the head chef Catering for large volume events including buffets, canapé receptions and full sit down dinners

Responsible for the preparation, cooking and service of food to agreed standards and specification

  • Ensure cost and sales records are accurately maintained
  • To order, prepare, cook and serve all food items to a consistent high standard
  • To meet the demands of the customers by providing the right catering services- catering for large events and functions as well as day to day catering
  • To establish and maintain satisfactory relationships with individuals at all levels within the Company and the Client organisation
  • To implement and maintain the Statutory and Company standards of hygiene, health and safety and take any action as is necessary
  • To ensure that all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in regard to customers’ special dietary requirements
  • Manage the quality and hygiene of the food cycle from preparation to service
  • Ensure all special functions are completed to the required standard of food and service and are also undertaken within pre-budgeted costs
  • To continually drive towards service excellence, customer satisfaction and delivering innovation in all areas

Sous Chef - Contract Catering - The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience with a minimum of 80 covers
  • Have a passion for fresh food and ingredients
  • An ambitious individual, driven by 100% customer satisfaction
  • Knowledge of the highest standards of Health & Safety, hand in hand with hygiene, and be able to implement this into the work place
  • Be a team player with the desire to develop yourself and those around you
  • Qualified to NVQ level 1/2 in food preparation and cooking or equivalent
  • A desire to excel in everything you do
