Our client a very successful and industry leading business services company based in London has retained us exclusively to recruit for them an experienced and qualified Finance Manager with strong people management skills.

The role:

To act as a Finance Manager which involves finalising, reviewing and reporting through to the organisational running cost budget holders their monthly results along with providing the appropriate support/advice to those budget holders and their teams. Reviewing and providing challenge to the project related management accounts and support to the Finance coordinator who collates this data. They will also offer support to the financial controller in providing quality reports & analysis to both internal and external stakeholders ensuring the required deadlines are met. The role requires management experience as they will be managing three people and extensive financial technical experience in managing and producing the appropriate management accounts reports. This post will report through to the financial controller.

Key Accountabilities:

Management of the organisational running cost management accounts ensuring they are produced on a timely basis and accurately. Each budget holder is provided the appropriate support, challenge to the figures and advice.

Management of the project related management accounts ensuring they are reviewed and the appropriate challenge/support to the budget holders and the finance coordinator is provided.

Provide support to the financial controller in producing the consolidated management accounts for internal use and producing the financial data required by external stakeholders including assisting with both the internal and external audits and producing the statutory accounts.

Managing the finance systems administration for both Access Dimensions and Focal point ensuring any changes to the current system are updated efficiently and effectively and any issues are resolved in a timely basis.

Managing the cash management processes and reporting ensuring the forecasts are accurate and produced on a timely basis with any variances explained in detail.

Managing the sponsor funding draw-down process ensuring this is produced on time and accurately.

Managing the BACS process ensuring payment runs are made each week and suppliers are paid promptly,

Provide support to the financial controller in developing the required reports within the new business intelligence reporting tool for both finance and all areas of the business. This will include undertaking workshops with each area of the business, producing specifications, developing, testing, documenting and training.

In all of the above areas a full review of our current processes is to be conducted and identification of any process improvements which are to be reported through to the financial controller for their evaluation.

Task management of three staff.

Role Requirements:

The incumbent must be a qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).

The incumbent has had experience as a finance manager, managing and producing the management accounts of either a company or division with either a turnover or spend budget of at least £10 million.

The incumbent has had at least one year’s experience of staff management where they have been managing a team.

Excellent management skills to resolve technical/controversial issues with stakeholders and to manage multiple senior stakeholders and their expectations.

An ability to influence others and develop good working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

An ability to work without direction where necessary.

Good attention to detail and high level of accuracy.

A team player with excellent interpersonal skills.

Very effective organisational and written communication skills.

Knowledge and experience of project management is desirable but not essential.

An ability to build financial models and write SQL reports is desirable but not essential.

Proficient IT skills including the ability of using an ERP system, Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.

Experience in a finance systems administration role is desirable.

Experience in Access Dimensions finance systems is desirable.

Experience of working in a non-departmental public body is desirable.
