Global Operations / Fieldwork Director for leading qualitative pharmaceutical market research agency

Your new company
The company is a leading market research agency, performing both qualitative and quantitative research within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries, and has a highly collaborative, open and supportive atmosphere.
Based in London, but working with global clients, the company works on projects covering the whole drug lifecycle and has significant expertise in pre-launch positioning and brand-development research.
As well as significant staff increases, the company has massively exceeded it's financial targets, and is looking to add people at all levels to sustain this growth.
This client is currently using Hays Life Sciences on a retained basis to shortlist and provide suitable candidates for this role.

Your new role

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced senior management candidate to play an active role at the upper levels of a growing pharmaceutical market research consultancy.
The position covers 3 significant functions within operations: Operations Lead, Global Field Lead and Compliance Lead, although there is scope to shape the position to fit the background of very strong candidates who may be lacking expertise in one area.

There will be significant strategic input into the operations side of the business, and one of the major responsibilities will be to conduct a top-down strategic review of how the company operates, identifying strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for growth, and then designing and implementing strategies to optimise operations and processes to ensure the company can continue to offer a range of tailored services to its international pharmaceutical clients.
This will also involve working closely with multiple departments, and leading 2 teams, the field and the compliance teams, who will be able to support on certain aspects (particularly for day-to-day compliance).

As Global Field lead, you will be heading up the field team in London and the US ensuring they are a completely safe efficient operation in field, with aspirations to develop and grow the group strategically and innovatively providing effective field approaches to help the research teams win competitive pitches. The field team of 7 (including analysis) are international and this role is managing the international field group covering all aspects.

As Head of Compliance the role is to ensure that the company is compliant with all relevant global and country specific legislation, all professional codes of conduct/practice, rules and regulations of regulatory agencies and client specific policies and procedures. Areas include but are not limited to: pharmacovigilance (Adverse Event reporting), privacy legislation and internal client approval processes.

What you'll need to succeed
You should come from a market research field background having worked as an International / Global Field Director in Healthcare / Pharmaceutical market research (or similar), ideally with experience in a broader operations role or the skills and motivation to move into a wider role in compliance and operations.
Your project experience should be mainly on the qualitative side, with some quantitative skills/experience being a plus, and covering a range of markets, including the UK, EU, US and ideally emerging markets such as Latin America or Asia Pacific.

You will have exceptional communication skills, with a track record of managing relationships with multiple clients, suppliers and vendors, as well as very strong people management skills. Candidates who have remotely managed teams in other countries will be at an advantage, although this is not necessary.

You should have a track record of finding innovative solutions to client issues and proactively developing services or other offerings to enhance client experience and project delivery.

You will also have a very good understanding of compliance issues surrounding healthcare and pharmaceutical market research, and be able to manage processes to ensure compliance with regulations across multiple countries.

What you'll get in return
An excellent opportunity to grow your career within a leading market research company; a fantastic working environment; and an excellent salary and benefits package.
This role is integral to the company's operations and fieldwork efforts, and will allow you to make your mark, at a very senior level, on one of the fastest growing agencies in this sector.
