This contract is focused on supporting the over 50s who are unemployed or economically inactive in West London.

Role Details

We are currently seeking a number of Employment Advisers in West London to support the long-term unemployed and economically inactive residents of West London to find and maintain employment.

Working on this new voluntary participation programme, you will be responsible for engaging and registering residents and thereafter supporting these individuals to improve their employability and progress them into sustained employment. You will provide Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) in both an individual and group setting and will coach, mentor, support and signpost as required to achieve outcomes.

Key to your success in this role will be your ability to quickly build rapport with those who join our programmes. You’ll need empathy of course, but also the ability to motivate people, question their assumptions and sometimes change their perception of working. There are many ways you will help your participants into work – delivering short employability skills courses for example, as well as assisting with job search techniques and seeking out opportunities.

Together with this you will be focused on meeting and exceeding your targets for employment outcomes. So proven ability to work in a results-driven and fast-paced environment is essential. You should also bring solid experience in a customer-facing role, along with strong organisational skills and an assertive and resilient approach. Experience of recruitment or employment advice would be welcomed, though it’s not a must.

Your Profile:
• Experience of working in a customer facing environment, e.g. Customer Services Assistant, Retail Assistant.
• Experience of working in a performance target driven environment, e.g. Employment Adviser, Recruitment Consultant, Sales Consultant, Telesales, Business to Business Sales, Business to Consumer sales etc.
• Technical skills include strong administrative abilities, IT literate, basic numeracy and good written communication.
• Willingness to travel locally (e.g. to meet customers/employers).

Desirable Personal Attributes:

• Experience of working in a fast paced environment.
• Experience of exposure to various customer groups.
• Strong sales / influencing / persuasion skills.
• Previous experience of a working in a similar role in Welfare to Work or publically funded services is desirable.
• Ideally you will have a relevant advisory and/or training qualification e.g. Award in Education & Training (formally PTLLs Level 3), NVQ Advice & Guidance or equivalent.
• Ideally a degree in relevant subjects or equivalent, e.g. Sociology, Social Care etc.
• Fluency in community languages.

The hiring process will firstly involve a competency based telephone interview and then if selected for interview you will need to be available to attend an assessment centre.
