Levy Restaurants UK have an excellent opportunity available for a Retail and Hospitality Operations Manager within Jockey Club Catering.  This is a diverse role and is integral to the success of our partnership with The Jockey Club.

Newmarket Racecourse is the Home of Racing with 39 fantastic race days in 2015. Top Quality Racing, Fantastic Themed Days & Live Music Events.

As Retail and Hospitality Operations Manager you will assist in the smooth delivery of race day operations at the Rolling Mile and July racecourse. You will assist in the planning, organisation and successful operation of retail, hospitality and concessions. Our retail offer includes up to 20 bars, 5 food outlets, restaurants and members areas so a strong retail background would be ideal.

The Retail and Hospitality Operations Manager must lead by example, be energetic and motivate the team, practice good financial controls and deliver operational excellence across all aspects of the business.  The Retail and Hospitality Operations Manager must also assist in building and maintaining client and customer relations.

Package description

Up to £30,000 per annum

To work 5 out of 7 days, in line with business needs

Main responsibilities
  • Assist in leading the team by communicating and motivating individuals effectively towards the achievement of set objectives.
  • Attend all regular meetings and ensure that relevant information is cascaded as appropriate.
  • Support the Deputy General Manager & People General Manager to effectively recruit, interview, induct, train and develop the variable labour in accordance with the needs of the business.
  • Promote good health and safety practice.
  • Be proactive and ensure staffing levels are effectively managed across site.
  • Ensure that the necessary audits are monitored as per company standard.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify training needs and support the recruitment team by being actively involved in skills training.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of food and beverage operations with a focus on innovation, standards and market awareness.
  • Play a proactive role in growing sales under the guidance of the Deputy General Manager.
  • Work within all budget guidelines. 
Ideal candidate
  • Management experience within Sport and Events or similar background
  • The ability to build and lead an effective team
  • Standards and quality driven management style
  • Results orientated and motivated to achieve measurable results
  • Sound knowledge of Hygiene, Health and Safety
  • Proven experience in a similar hospitality or commercial multi-outlet or multi-site role
  • Have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
  • Be self-motivated and show the ability to work in a pressurised commercial, customer facing environment
  • Standards and quality driven management style
  • Creative in thinking and approach
  • Motivated by a passion for quality and great service delivery
