Manufacturing Engineer - Pharmaceutical Packaging/Filling


12 months contract with possibility for extension.

My client are a reputable global GMP manufacturer of drug delivery systems and pharmaceutical products. They are a well-known company with several sites around the UK. Their range of products is broad and well reputed.

The Job

As a result of a large project there are two exciting new positions available. This job offers flexi-time working Monday-Friday in a supportive, pleasant working environment. As Manufacturing Engineers you will be working as part of a technical team focused on continuous improvement, marketed product support and new product introduction activities for Class 1 Medical Devices and Pharmaceutical products. There is an emphasis equipment and process improvements and lean six sigma projects to improve production efficiencies and specifically this role will be packaging and filling for tablets and inhalation drug delivery systems.The role will involve interaction with internal manufacturing, logistics and technical colleagues and possible interaction with customers / suppliers.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure technical development of products and manufacturing processes.
  • Further develop product and process understanding for manufacturing processes.
  • Provide ongoing technical support for the process and equipment, including training, troubleshooting, continuous improvement projects, annual product reviews, and documentation updates etc
  • Prepare and execute Validation Master Plans, Process Optimization Studies, Process Validation and Cleaning Validation documents.
  • Design statistically valid in-process sampling plans for production use.
  • Author batch records, operating documents, and finished product specifications.
  • Implementation of lean principles in manufacturing and packaging environments.
  • Support the lead Project Engineer during FAT, SAT, installation and commissioning phases.
  • Champion continuous process improvement within the production teams.

About You

To Apply for this role you should demonstrate:

  • Experience in regulated manufacturing environment
  • Packaging Automation and Mechanical Controls Engineering would be ideal
  • Process optimization techniques e.g. Design of Experiments
  • Equipment qualification and process validation.
  • Continuous Improvement techniques including Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma concepts.
  • Introduction of new equipment and processes.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt trained is desirable


Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant science or engineering discipline is desirable. As is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
