Your new role
You will manage project budgets and cost plans, internal fees and finance monitoring. You will be responsible for Principal Engineers, Engineers, Assistant Engineers, Technicians, Clerk of Works, temporary and seconded staff within the team. The role will be client facing and as such it is expected that the candidate will have good working relationships with clients. Responsibilities to determine and implements programmes of work. To manage the resources available to undertake all aspects of project delivery from feasibility through concept design, to detailed design through to construction and on to completion. Prepare and manage project fee proposals against targets. Prepare and manage project cost plans. To ensure projects are undertaken and specified to meet the requirements of quality, health and safety, environmental standards, and time to both national and corporate standards. To manage a team of engineers and technicians to deliver a variety of projects over a range of complexities
What you'll need to succeed
You must be also able to demonstrate extensive experience in the following: An extensive working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British and European Standards, and Codes of Practice; Preparation of schemes for invitation of tender using the NEC3 Form of Contract, the Specification for Highway Works and the Standard Method of Measurement; Leading the procurement process for construction projects in both a private and public sector environment; Supervising and monitoring construction works on site; Evidence of excellent communication skills showing both orally and in writing. This shall cover the production of technical reports, preparation of letters and statements, to a range of recipients; The ability to deliver quality through implementing and adapting to achieve continuous improvement; Evidence of the skill to consult and negotiate on engineering schemes and contractual matters;
