Creative Designer (3 month fixed term contract)

Location: Shoreditch, London, N1 7JQ
Salary: £24,500 (Pro-rata)
Employment Status: Fixed term contract of 3 months

Main Purpose of Role:
This is a temporary role, on an initial fixed-term contract of 3 months to work as part of the design team to create a range of magazines, digital publications, marketing materials and media. The person in this role should use their layout and design skills to create the most visually pleasing products possible, and be involved in everything from original design to typesetting projects.

• Working closely with the editorial teams to design, layout, and amend editorial content for a range of books, magazines, and digital publications
• To collaborate with the marketing, events, and editorial teams to create promotional materials for various aspects of our business when required, including emails, event brochures, house adverts, social media posts and various other materials.

• Your considered creative input allows us to maintain our brand images and high quality design level as we develop our products and our business
• Brand guidelines and house styles are followed and considered throughout every piece of design work across all brands, products, and publications
• Your design work should constantly look to be of the highest possible standard, working with the time and resources available (stock image libraries, space on page and time available) while still falling within what we feel is suitable for that particular brand, publication, or product
• All design work should be created in a timely manner, always giving consideration to the production schedule and the individual deadlines therein
• You are able to receive and interpret feedback - both positive and negative - from both designers and non-design minded people in a positive and productive manner
• To manage and support the junior designer.

Skills and Experience Required:
• Candidates should ideally possess a relevant media/publishing qualification and/or have previous experience working within a media/publishing company in a design role.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills (with both internal and external stakeholders) with the ability to communicate concepts and ideas with both creative and non-creative minded people
• A good level of experience with Adobe creative applications: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Additional experience and skill with other design applications will also be a positive factor
• Experience in creating digital content such as emails or web pages using coding languages (HTML, CSS, JavaScript etc.)
• You have your own creative flair with a good eye for design and layout across a wide range of platforms and media
