Job title: Junior sous chef

Shifts/hours: 48 hours per week

Pay rate: £24k

Starting date: April

Position: Reporting to Sous & Head Chef, the Junior Sous Chef demonstrates and helps maintain high standards and consistency within kitchen.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years experience required in restaurant kitchen
  • Professional, friendly, and punctual.
  • Full time flexible hours are required (able to work days, evenings, weekends, holidays).

Skills:

  • Able to work at a rapid pace while maintaining attention to detail; ability to multi-task
  • Efficient communication with cooks and front of house
  • Skilled in time management.
  • Teaching and motivational skills
  • Able to tolerate pressure and work calmly and efficiently during busy times
  • Possess the highest work ethics, personal morals and honesty beyond reproach
  • Maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness in the restaurant area

Duties:

  • Be in control and aware at all times of food costs percentages
  • Ensure consistent and smooth running of food production
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets and aim to achieve the budgeted gross profit
  • Assist other kitchen staff as need arises
  • Aid in training and development for department staff in kitchen procedures
  • Ensure effective daily communication with relevant departments
  • Ensure effective stock purchase, its receipt and storage
  • Monitor the quality and quantity of food prepared
  • Perform other administrative tasks as will be communicated by superiors
  • Ensure consistent and smooth running of food production

  • Report the need for maintenance to appropriate staff
