Senior Commodity Manager - Permanent - Milton Keynes - £37 - £42k

Excipion are currently working with a world leading manufacturing organisation; they are looking to recruit a Senior Commodity Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

The Senior Commodity Manager is responsible for overseeing both the ongoing maintenance and future development of the Supplier base at the Milton Keynes site.

Senior Commodity Manager Responsibilities

Manage an extensive portfolio of suppliers with a spend of £8M including leading in the negotiation of new contracts.
Identify areas of opportunity, initiate & implement new purchasing strategies in conjunction with senior colleagues.
Contact & asses suitable vendors of all levels for the development of strategic partnerships
Develop, maintain & audit an approved primary supplier base on their financial stability, commercial, quality & delivery aspects.
Competitively tender all parts as commodity groups.
Support New Product Introduction projects through to implementation.
Conduct supplier development meetings/projects in line with the Group needs.
Drive & manage company cost down projects across a range of commodities.
Develop and maintain ordering methods, rolling delivery schedules, the materials control and purchasing planning parameters on the companies manufacturing software system.
Achieve continuous cost down, through strong constructive negotiation

Senior Commodity Manager Capabilities;

Preferably be a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Must have a minimum of 2 years in a senior position in commodity management / purchasing.
Demonstrate proven experience in Purchasing of Composite & Electrical commodities in the Construction or aligned markets.
Excellent Business administration skills.
Computer literate in Microsoft office and manufacturing software systems (e.g. SAP).
Experience and ability to travel and operate within a global market place.
Conversant with lean manufacturing tools.
Highly competent and experienced in the negotiation of contracts and conditions.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, including a high level of presentation skills
Able to work on own initiative and make decisions based on overall business requirements and best practice.
Ability to work to tight timescales and under pressure whilst maintaining a calm, prioritised and structured approach to all tasks / issues.
