Due to continuing business success and growth our client now have a fantastic opportunity available for a Head of Technical Compliance to join the business.

Head of Technical Compliance responsibilities:

- Provide specialist technical support and advice related to the environmental compliance development and optimisation of corporate assets.
- Provide specialist technical review and advisory services with a focus on developing novel and cost-effective solutions to identified environmental compliance risks and legacy re-development opportunities, particularly in the areas of waste and emissions chemistry, process chemical engineering and statistical analysis.
- Assist in the formulation of corporate strategic plans by providing accurate and timely information regarding the current state-of-the art, potential disruptive technologies and regulatory risk.
- In accordance with the identified corporate strategy; provide timely technical support to business development activities undertaken throughout the Technical Innovation Forum.
- As a priority, ensure that technological and regulatory barriers to landfill leachate and other legacy liabilities/risks are challenged to achieve the most effective long-term corporate solution in terms of costs and resource re-use. 
- Produce, collate and submit Pollution Inventory submissions for all landfill sites, ERFs, organics and MBT/AD facilities in cooperation with operations and the SHEQS function.
- Work with operational colleagues, SHEQS and external organisations to derive and review technical data related to carbon emissions and statutory carbon reporting requirements.
- Work with key operational colleagues to project manage and provide technical advice on company stack emissions testing in accordance with regulatory and contractual obligations.

- Support Landfill Energy and Business Development in obtaining the necessary permits, consents and other legal agreements to achieve Definitive Closure, Permit Surrender and re-development opportunities.
- Support the operational business (ERF, Landfill Energy and Resource and Recovery) in solving issues related to the composition of wastes accepted/treated and in understanding the implications of potential future changes in waste composition to the operational business.
- Report on progress of corporate work plans, variances and non-conformities as required to internal and external clients, service or regulatory departments or outside bodies as appropriate.

The ideal Head of Technical Compliance will have:

- A Higher Degree in a relevant scientific or technical subject, Membership/Fellowship of relevant professional scientific/technical institution and Membership of CIWM
- Detailed knowledge of the regulatory framework controlling the waste management, renewable energy and recycling industry
- Thorough knowledge and experience of technical developments in waste management, renewable energy and resource recovery industries
- Significant track record of successful research and development projects within the waste management sector
- Nationally recognised experience and profile within the waste industry as a technical resource
- Significant track record of working with academic institutions to deliver novel waste management solutions and experience of leading specialised PhD-level technical teams
- The ability to be well organised and think logically
- High levels of literacy and numeracy skills

In return for your hard work as the Head of Technical Compliance, we can offer a salary of £60,000 - £70,000 per annum as well as an attractive benefits package.
