This PE backed digital media group, whilst still in the early stages of its evolution, already has prestigious client base which continues to expand. They have also secured substantial funding and as part of their growth have created a new role for a Commercial Financial Controller.

Reporting to the CFO your role will be split between the day to day running of the finance function and providing financial support and advice to the business in various commercial matters.

Main Responsibilities :
  • Budgeting, planning and forecasting, including day to day cash management.
  • Managing one direct report, the Management Accountant; and working closely with two other administrative staff.
  • Oversight of all management and statutory reporting, company secretarial, HR and payroll processes.
  • The focal point for the company's contractual, HR & financial regulatory compliance, including risk management and data protection.
  • Liaising with sales and other operational staff to provide analysis and advice, sales administrative support and to ensure commercial control.
  • R&D tax credits claims, and other tax compliance.
  • Reviewing and promoting improved processes, controls, and use of management software tools across the business.

Desired Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA) with a proven background in operational finance ideally gained in an SME environment. ACA's straight from practice with relevant experience in TMT clients will also be considered.
  • Hands on, willing to work on a wide range of financial and commercial tasks from accounting system journal entry to project budgeting and reporting; and from ensuring all roles have current job descriptions, to drafting new client data control checklists.
  • Have experience of developing and owning scalable business processes, probably in an SME environment.
  • Educated to degree level with strong, analytical questioning intellect.
  • Technically strong, with experience of FRS102 compliance.
  • Proactive, positive outlook, and a supportive team player.
  • Ideally aware of, and have experience of, big data, analytics technology, and SaaS.
  • Strong excel skills, and ideally experience of using a range of SME accounting and operational software tools.
  • A strong project manager and commercially aware, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
