Helpline Manager

A great opportunity to manage a national helpline.

Our client has run a National Helpline since its launch in 2010. Since that time, the helpline has supported over 14,000 victims of stalking.

The helpline is currently in the second year of a three-year project to expand the depth and reach of the service. Having started life as the only national helpline for victims of stalking in the world, it has grown from being staffed by just one person to requiring a team of eight staff (some fulltime, some part time) and ten volunteers.

About the role:

They are looking for an ambitious manager for the helpline to lead the team to achieve its toughest target yet: supporting 4,525 victims of stalking by phone and email and a further 80 through sustained advocacy and casework. The helpline manager will also need to represent the Trust and the helpline externally, with representatives of the police and CPS and to build partnerships with other services for victims of stalking.

About you:

The successful candidate will have a background in delivering helplines or phone-based advice on behalf of advocacy services, gained in the violence against women and girls sector. You will have a firm grasp of safe practice including safeguarding of children and management of risk for people experience violence and abuse.

As well as robust knowledge of good practice in service delivery, they will need you to be a proven leader who can demonstrate a track record in working with victims affected by domestic, sexual or other gender based violence.

You will have the ability to maximise the potential of teams and services, setting and meeting clear goals for yourself and others, and taking mitigating action to keep people and projects on track. Building the reputation of a service or organisation with stakeholders to ensure that its impact and significance is recognised and strong partnerships are established. You will have effectively represented a service or organisation externally, for example in the press or at multi-agency meetings, commanding the attention and support of others. You will have also previously collaborated with colleagues to produce winning campaigns or fundraising bids.
