Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Technician

What is the purpose of this role?

We are currently looking for a Mobile Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Technician for the UK's largest water and Sewerage Company on either a permanent basis or temp - perm.
The primary objective of the role will be to ensure that all equipment associated with Sewage Treatment Works (STW) is running safely and efficiently using both proactive and reactive maintenance methods. Working within the Maintenance team you will follow robust PPMs as well as getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Examples of equipment you will be working on will be: Various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, Electronic control systems such as VSD's, Automatic valves and penstocks, Flow, level and pressure measurement, Programmable logic controllers, variable speed drives and controls, Chemical handling and dosing equipment

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Cross-Skilled Mechanical & Electrical Maintenance Technician to join the UK's largest Water company and join the Operations Team in the Thames Valley North area working across the Banbury Area in Oxfordshire.
This role will be to guarantee the maintenance of electrical - mechanical processes in a manner that will ensure the highest reliability on our assets at our sewage treatment works.
To be successful in this role as Maintenance Technician, you should be a time served apprentice within significant experience of electrical systems working in a "true multi-skilled" capacity and therefore ideally you have been upskilled with an mechanical qualification to allow to inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair as appropriate on mechanical & electrical plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner with minimum supervision.
What will this role involve?

You will be working in a small multi discipline team, which the role entails:

Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical equipment in compliance with company procedures in order to minimise plant breakdowns.

Investigate the nature of plant failures and subsequently carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible in order to avoid interruptions to the process.

Carry out the installations, refurbishment and commissioning of electrical plant to specification and on time.
Investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carry out repairs during incidents.

Providing technical advice where appropriate; making reference to up to date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.

Completing jobs to the required standard noting any findings on your company device and following the required reporting methods.
Carry out an assessment of spares and materials required to complete work effectively, where necessary ordering additional items via the Manager.

Ensure the Health & Safety of yourself, colleagues, visitors and members of the public is excellent at all times.
Work according to good housekeeping procedures and maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Demonstrate positive attitudes and behaviors.
Participate in a stand-by rota following the relevant training.
What skills are we looking for?

Ideally we are looking for an Electrical / Mechanical Cross Skilled Technician with an Indentured Electrical Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in Engineering, NVQ or C&G level 3 in Mechanical Engineering with an upskill qualification in Mechanical NVQ2/3. For individuals that are single skilled, we will look to develop right people to crossed / upskilled status.
Knowledge and awareness of Health and Safety issues relevant to the industry would be beneficial for this role, although not essential.
The work will require physical fitness; so you will need the ability to work in confined spaces with successful completion of the appropriate training.
Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota (typically 1 week in 6) will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment.
Due to the nature of the role a valid driving licence is essential and as the post will work across a number of sites in the region.

Salary Information

This role is based at Banbury STW. We are offering a salary from £22,950 depending on experience and qualifications.

Participation in a 24/7 Out of Hours Standby rota may be required after a suitable period of training and assessment, for which you will receive an additional payment.
All necessary equipment such as vehicle and tools are provided.
