Functional Skills Tutor / Teacher

A dynamic modern training provider is looking for a Functional Skills Tutor of Maths, English and ICT to complete their team. In the well-resourced training rooms in Thetford, you would facilitate an individual learning system that received outstanding from Ofsted across the board in 2016. Your weekly schedule would be learner facing for 4 days a week with a Friday for PPA and team meetings.

The individual plans are accessed through an online learning bank to enable the teenage learners to work towards their qualifications, helping them progress into employment. The experience of working with 14 to 19-year-olds while understanding and managing their behaviours would be a definite advantage.

The training provider is ideally looking for a qualified tutor / teacher with a Cert Ed, 7407, CTLLS or DTTLS with experience of working with this age group and Maths, English and ICT experience. Accordingly, they are willing to consider people who have proven experience working with this age group, with a GCSE grade C or above in Maths, English and ICT who would like to commit to completing a funded qualification such as CTLLS.

As a Function Skills Tutor / Teacher your duties would include:

  • Tutoring groups and individuals their personalised plans in Maths, English and ICT.
  • Assess, plan and keep all learners records up to date and accurate.
  • Undertake pastoral duties and support them as they progress.
  • Manage learners behaviour using the robust structure that is in place.
  • Engage and motivate learners to help them achieve.

The ideal Functional Skills Tutor / Teacher will have:

  • A flexible, creative approach to allow learners to succeed and reach targets.
  • CTLLS, DTLLS, 7407, Certificate of Education or Qualified Teacher Status.
  • Maths, English and ICT qualifications of level 2 / 3 or above.
  • Good experience of managing groups of 14 to 19-year-olds behaviours.
  • A learner centred approach to ensure safeguarding measures are implemented.
  • Experience of delivering Functional Skills, employability workshops and PSD.

Functional Skills Tutor / Teacher / Maths, English, ICT

In return, you would receive a salary of between £22,000 and £28,000 depending on your experience and qualifications. You would need to take an enhanced CRB check which would be funded by the company as would a teaching qualification such as CTLLS if needed. Your working hours would be 8:30 am till 4:30 pm with a 30-minute dinner break and a holiday entitlement of 25 days plus bank holidays.
