Stores Inventory Control Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of our client in Port Talbot, for an Inventory Control Manager to join an existing team for a period of 12 months. The purpose of the position is to work as a key member of the Stores Function. The main point of contact between stores, plant engineers, procurement and Stores management in the control of excess, obsolete stock in line with the AP and day to day Inventory Levels.

Principal accountabilities:

  • Operate within the Regional Stores Function to control and reduce stock to agreed AP levels.
  • Analyse and identify excess, obsolete and slow moving stock as described above on an ongoing basis, using SAP and other data sources and making recommendations to the key stakeholders.
  • To communicate with plant engineers to agree and deploy appropriate actions to control inventory.
  • To create opportunities for the recovery of cash from auction sales of scrap, determining the most effective disposal methods to generate revenue.
  • To develop and implement standard processes and procedures to move activity from project status to business as usual.
  • Analyse data from SAP or other sources provided by other works functions, to provide accurate and intelligent output to support driving positive improvement in the business.
  • To manage key inventory reduction processes i.e. lazy capital reduction also rationalisation of stores asset locations to a central store
  • Create and maintain relevant departmental KPI and dashboards in order to measure and track progress of incentives.

Knowledge and experience:

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven experience of SAP or Inventory Management Related systems.
  • Strong MS Excel and other office features are essential to the role.
  • Self-motivated, have the ability to work alone as well as in a supporting role in multiple functions and be open to extended hours of work where required.
  • Stores experience, also and understanding of MRP and management experience
  • Able to communicate clearly and precisely to all levels of management.
  • Proven aptitude for problem solving is critical to the success of this role, as is clear and effective communication of such solutions as they arise, within a number of formats and to a variety of audiences.
  • Project and resource management capability.
  • The ability to use computer systems to develop, model and optimise future stores process.
  • Influencing and decision making skills.

Salary benefit; £19,000 - £24,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
