One of the finest Leisure and country clubs in the world - surrounded by acres of woodland and accessible an hour away from central London. The Club is undergoing a major programme of investment and as a consequence requires an Financial controller to help support the development.

Reporting to and working closely with the Finance Director the Financial Controller responsibilities includes:

• Manage small finance team
• Manage the month end process, including journals, accruals and various month end routines. Create management accounts, review and query results before finalising with the Finance Director
• Development of financial reporting
• Regularly review balance sheet for risks and opportunities
• Monitor and calculate various commission payments and accruals
• Reforecasting and budgeting - timetable, preparation, review returns, consolidate forecasts including detailed review and challenging of numbers with senior management managing process end to end
• Actively drive the credit control process by regular review of debtors
• Draft VAT returns and review VAT advice from external consultant coordinating disclosures and review all implications for the business
• Oversee all purchase ledger processing, review and challenge supplier payment terms and payment runs
• Regularly monitor cash flow with Finance Director
• Work closely with IT to improve and develop reporting and analysis from internal systems
• Carry out any ad-hoc analysis as required (using advanced Excel ) into accounting transactions to ensure systems are correct

The successful candidate profile for the Financial Controller role is likely to be as follows:

• A qualified accountant likely to be ACA,ACCA,CIMA or the international equivalent
• A broad accounting experience ideally gained in either the Leisure, Hospitality, Hotel or Catering Industries although those from other customer facing industries with the right personality and range of skills will be considered
• A strong technical accounting background with attention to detail, particularly in all aspects of financial and management accounting, budgeting, forecasting including good reporting skills
• Strong systems background ideally advanced excel skills
• Staff management experience in leading and developing teams with ability to delegate effectively to give learning experiences
• Strong interpersonal skills, be diplomatic, assertive, friendly, trustworthy, loyal and committed, down to earth and direct, robust personality who will challenge in the right way with a good sense of humour
• Hands-on approach, happy to roll sleeves up and get stuck in on any task
