A commercial cleaning company based in Bristol and operating throughout the South West and Wales, is seeking a Purchase Ledger, Accounts Administrator for its Head office in Hotwells.

This is a very stable and friendly team and the current post holder has been there for 10 years and is leaving to relocate to Australia.

A varied role that would suit someone keen to learn, and who is pro active with ideas for improving current systems and automating manual processes wherever possible.

This is an end to end role with responsibility for the entire purchase ledger and would ideally suit someone with an AAT qualification or equivalent. Someone who can demonstrate an understanding of the full concept of accounting is required.

Working in a team of four and reporting to the financial controller you will be dealing with circa 2000 invoices per month, and all aspects of the purchase ledger including approving invoices, dealing with supplier and client queries, dealing with internal managers , and creating own correspondence on email.

You will also be responsible for placing orders for stores and materials, creating new client/supplier records, producing reports for BACS and cheque payments and monthly purchase ledger and bank account reconciliations.

Good attention to detail is essential, particularly when under pressure at month end/meeting deadlines. You will be responsible for checking of invoices, verifying accuracy of documents received from managers on site, maintaining accurate financial records and client data, and producing ad-hoc reports as requested.

The work output is high and the ability to meet deadlines is essential.

We are looking for somebody who is super-organised and able to prioritise a very busy work load.

GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent, are essential.

Proficiency in Word, Excel and computerised Accounting systems is essential.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are required in order to create own letters and emails, and to liaise with internal and external contacts in a professional and efficient manner.

AAT qualification, or similar, is desirable.

Standard hours are 9-5, Monday to Friday.

20 days holiday per year, increasing to 25 days' holiday after 5 years.
