Our Client, a market leading Business Services organisation based in Crewe, currently has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Financial Controller to join their Finance team on a 6-month contract. The successful candidate will manage three staff members and take on all financial responsibilities. These include managing the associated Accounts Receivable team and liaising with the Account Payable team to ensure tight payment deadlines are adhered to.

During this contract, annual accounts (prepared under IFRS), associated audit and tax filings will need to be completed together with the quarterly flux analysis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management accounts
  • Investigate and explain variances to Budget and Forecast
  • Work with the Head of FP&A to prepare detailed budgets and forecasts
  • Management of a junior finance team (3 reports)
  • The timely and accurate preparation of the management accounts to tight reporting deadlines
  • Liaison with systems upgrade team to ensure smooth implementation
  • Completion of VAT returns
  • Maintenance of a strong accounting control environment
  • Preparation of daily reports and dashboards to drive the business towards its goals
  • Management of daily banking activities and monitoring of cash-flow
  • Maintenance of AP and GL ledgers
  • Review of month end reconciliations and timely resolution of differences
  • Preparation of monthly variance reports to budget and forecast
  • Preparation of annual statutory reports and audit packs
  • Finance point of contact for staff in overseas offices
  • Preparation of working papers for compliance
  • Review and authorisation of payroll

Personal Qualities:

  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified accountant with 1-2 years PQE
  • Excellent accounting knowledge
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Accomplished communication skills, verbal and written
  • Intermediate/advanced level excel skills
  • Superior problem solving skills
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management and staff
  • Astute attention to detail
