Deputy Manager - Residential Children Home - Berkshire

Dove Resourcing is supporting a specialist childcare organisation in their search to recruit an experienced residential childcare professional to a deputy manager role for a children’s home they have in the Reading area.

The organisation is renowned for its investment in training and opportunities for organic progression within the company. We are looking to recruit an experienced deputy manager who has direct experience working in a children’s home working with young people whom exhibit challenging behaviours. The right individual will have a track record working in services that promote positive outcomes for young people in the home and have the ambitions to develop into a Registered manager role in the future in line with the growth of this company.

The company has a core group of staff at management level that have been in the organisation for some time, that have progressed through the ranks and taken advantage of the supportive and ongoing training opportunities available to those within this company, in comparison to their competitors they have a lower staff turnover.

You will be expected to assist in the running of the service and take an active involvement in the recruitment of staff and supervisions of the staff team in the unit.

As the Deputy manager you will be responsible for supporting the smooth running of the home and will help with the following tasks;

  • Take a hands on approach with supporting the recruitment of a staff team.
  • Maintaining a leadership perspective and resolving any staff related concern.
  • Actively look to develop Staff team through continued professional development.
  • Ensuring the home runs in accordance with legislations and regulations - Children Home regulations and Ofsted requirements.
  • Motivating the staff and instilling the highest quality of care into the culture of the team.
  • Take responsibility for monitoring placement plans and being at the forefront of implementations and development.

This provider is renowned for its investment in staff and organic development of staff within the company. There are very exciting opportunities for progression, not solely in terms of financial package but also training - which can include specific clinical / therapeutic training.

This is a full time and permanent job opportunity - Deputy Managers are expected to work on a rota’d shift basis - as being part of a senior team you would receive a set rota however this will include working alternate weekends and doing your share of sleep ins. We will also consider individuals whom would prefer to do block working, this may mean working 2/3 full days with sleeps straight in order to have a longer period of time off.

On offer is a competitive salary in the region of £24-27k basic with sleep in payments in addition to the base salary.

All applicants must have as a minimum the level 3 Children and Young People workforce diploma or equivalent and extensive experience in residential childcare - working in a supervisory capacity.
