Seeking a Payroll Administrator for a role based in Sevenoaks Borough

One of the UK’s largest independent providers of mental health care is undergoing an exciting period of growth and are looking for a Payroll Administrator to appoint into our Head Office Finance team based in Sevenoaks, Kent.

They process payrolls for around 3,500 staff through an external bureau. This role, as part of a central finance team, will co-ordinate data between multiple sites and the bureau.
This involves actively managing the information that is being sent to the bureau, and ensuring its validity and completeness to enable processing. This will require constant communication with sites to ensure that relevant data is received, and corrected where deficiencies are spotted.
Once sent to the bureau, further queries may come to light that will require fielding and resolving. Once processed payrolls are reviewed, before being approved for payment by the bureau.


• Processing 2 payroll cycles per month, 34 hourly and 13 salary at two different periods in the month
• Liaise with site administration to ensure timely receipt of accurate payroll information, e.g. hours data, starters/leavers/rate adjustment information
• Ensure appropriate authorisations are in place for changes or amendments to staff records (including rate changes)
• Liaise with payroll bureau to ensure accurate processing of staff pay
• Conduct variance analysis on processed payroll prior to payment to ensure minimisation of errors
• Calculate and advise payroll bureau of payment amounts in respect of company maternity pay
• Reconcile deductions (AOEO/Pension/PAYE) and ensure payment to third parties
• Adhere to company policies, procedures and relevant laws where applicable
• Deal with staff queries in respect of their pay, deductions etc

Essential Skills:

• Attention to detail while working under pressure
• Able to meet tight deadlines
• Organised, with an ability to prioritise workloads to maximise efficiency
• An excellent team player, capable of working well in a small team
• Experience in processing payroll with awareness of approach and requirements when dealing with statutory payments, deductions, pension processing and automatic enrolment
• Understanding and familiarity with payroll related taxes, both personal and employer

Due to the rural location of this role the successful candidate will be required to drive and have their own vehicle.
