What you'll do
Our Central London Mainline Station stores are among the busiest in the WHSmith family, meaning our in-store teams need to perform at their best, so customers always have an excellent experience. You'll take on the day-to-day management of the team - recruiting, motivating, assigning work and training them to ensure we hit our targets - it's no mean feat. Leading by example, you could be responsible for many team members at any given time. And if the Deputy or Store Manager aren't in at any point, you'll be expected to step right up. They'll also look to you, and you're on-the-floor experience, to make profit-increasing, customer experience enhancing recommendations.

What's in it for you

We're a company that values its people and we're always on the lookout for new rising stars to work in our Central London stores. We'll give you all the help and training you need, including the support of our Retail Academy, to make your ambition a reality and fulfil your management potential. We offer a range of shifts to suit all sorts of lifestyles and given our location, it's an easy local commute with great travel links. You'll also get some excellent benefits, including up to 50% discount in our High Street stores, flexible working, childcare vouchers and many more.

Who we're looking for
You already have supervisory or assistant manager experience. It's likely to be in retail, but we're open to anyone who's worked in an environment where they're used to thinking on their feet in a fast-moving, customer-focused environment, such as hospitality. Most important, however, is your entrepreneurial spirit. As a leader of a store you'll need to be hands-on, target driven and ideas-fuelled (which is great in a company where we turn our people's business ideas into reality). It's the ideal role in which to use your people management and organisational skills to their fullest potential. And, should you wish to progress, you'll find nothing makes us happier. We'll support you however we can.

About us
You may know we operate on the high street, in airports and bus stations, hospitals, universities, workplaces, and - of course railway stations. But you may be surprised to learn we've been around since 1792 and have 14,000 people working with us globally. We're continually growing by putting our customers at the heart of all we do. So, at WHSmith we offer careers with No Limits!
