We are currently looking for a Registered Manager (Matron) to oversee a 20 bed care home.

The Registered Manager is in overall charge of the smooth and efficient running of the Nursing Home. As the most senior qualified member of staff, you would be in overall control of all employees working at Morgannwg House. You would be expected to remain flexible in your duties. 24 hour nursing and personal care of the service users is required and your advice and guidance may be required by your staff while you are not on duty.

Imposed Responsibilities:

The Care Acts and The Care Homes Regulations, as enacted amended or replace by essentially similar Acts and Regulations, place specific responsibilities and duties on the person formally appointed as Registered Manager in accordance with the Acts and Regulations. Where formal references are to the Registered Person this is to be taken as being a reference to the Registered Manager. As Registered Manager, those responsibilities and duties would fall on you.

You would be expected to use your best efforts to ensure that the home and it's management and staff are fully aware of all such legislation and regulations applying to the home, in any way, and that the home operates fully within the regulations required under the home's registration and meets the minimum standards as specified by any authorised regulatory or governmental body. Any shortfalls or deviations in respect of any of the above must be reported promptly to the Directors. Further responsibilities and duties are imposed by Acts of Parliament and associated Regulations in respect of Health and Safety, Fire, Discrimination, Employment etc.

You would be expected to use your best efforts to ensure that, at all times, the home, it's management and staff are fully aware of all current legislation and regulations applying to the home, in any way, and that the home operates fully within the regulatory requirements.

Ensuring the home meets and where possible exceeds the 'National Minimum Standards for Care Homes for Older People' as advised from time to time by the CSSIW or any successor body.

Clinical Management:

You would be responsible for monitoring the management of medication and you would be expected to ensure that any member of staff involved in any aspect of the processes of medication handling is properly qualified, fully understands the daily requirements of the medications routines, fully understands the needs of the service users and fully maintains records of the movements of all medications of whatever description.

Leadership:

As the most senior member of staff, you must possess the quality of leadership for the effective management of the team. Your responsibility would be to develop and nurture a committed team that can share the responsibilities in a flexible way in order to maintain a consistently high standard of care.

Budgeting:

You would be responsible for monitoring the management of an efficient duty roster to allocate optimum levels of staff to carry out the nursing, caring, kitchen and domestic duties. You would also be responsible for monitoring staffing at all times, in order to manage costs and service delivery.

Training:

  • You must do all necessary actions to maintain your RCN registration and comply with all RCN requirements as to Continuing Professional Development.
  • You must do all necessary actions to maintain your Care Council for Wales registration and comply with all their requirements as to Continuing Professional Development.
  • You must successfully complete/have completed an approved Registered Managers Award NVQ4 training course.
