Job Title: Assistant Production Manager

Location: Telford

Salary: £30,000 to £33,000 plus 5% bonus (£34,650)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Core hours Monday to Friday e.g. 8:30am – 5:00pm

  • Experience of Managing a Copack Department would be highly beneficial but is not essential

  • Ability to identify potential and motivate a team of people

  • Experience of working successfully within a FMCG environment

  • Must be career orientated with the desire to progress

  • Experience of working in a customer-led environment with changing priorities

  • A minimum of 2 years management / supervisor experience

  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work to strict deadlines

  • Recognises and promotes the importance of continuous improvement and Lean principles

  • Displays a positive attitude to change

  • Develops best practice and drives continuous improvement in all aspects of performance, in order to achieve service objectives

  • Must have excellent customer service skills.

  • Experience of managing KPIs and working towards targets

  • Experience of working with packaging machinery would be beneficial

  • Experience of customer, BRC and ISO audits would be beneficial

  • Must remain professional and be the lead ambassador and first point of call for the Client.

  • Must have a good knowledge of Health and Safety and Quality processes

  • Must be computer literate ideally with experience of warehouse management or MRP / ERP systems

    The Role

    You will be responsible for managing the Copack operation to meet planned volume and commercial targets in accordance with Quality and Safety standards.   • To manage site teams in order that core KPIs (Health and Safety, Quality and Copack Performance) can be achieved.

  • Ensure best practise is developed and used, constantly seeking improvements to layout, efficiency and stock integrity.

  • Manage the output of assigned production and effectively deal with issues as and when they arise.

  • Co-ordinate short & long term labour and equipment plans.

  • Reviewing staffing levels by function, rotating staff accordingly in line with volumes and building robust succession plans to maintain the service.

  • To effectively motivate and manager a team of people to meet production targets

  • Identify and mentor the FLM's and Key Players of the future. Create strength in depth through the development of the teams. Develop staff by training, mentoring and personal development plans.

  • Drive own personal development through training and work based experience

  • Conduct disciplinary investigations in accordance with company procedure

  • Lead the implementation of the Operational Strategy

  • Ensure compliance to Company and Legal requirements of H&S and Quality

  • Effectively manage client expectation’s to deliver a reliable value added co-pack service.

  • Ensure production process efficiency targets are communicated, owned, targeted and delivered. e.g. labour and waste

  • Attend customer review meetings when required

  • Manage the site to achieve budgeted requirements and adopt continuous improvement.

Due to continued expansion and internal promotion the company are looking to recruit an additional Assistant Production Manager. As they continue to open new operations the role will offer the chance to progress quickly within the company to Production Manager level.
