This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, friendly Payroll team with a diverse client base - ranging from small, owner managed businesses to large corporations. The ideal candidate must have payroll bureau experience.

JOB TITLE: Payroll Assistant

REPORTING TO: Payroll Manager

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Entering payroll data from start to finish accurately

  • Reconciling payroll to client data

  • Preparing payroll journals

  • Analysing weekly and monthly PAYE figures

  • Calculating SSP/SMP/SAP

  • Preparing BACs files

  • Producing and distributing pension scheme returns, including notification of changes in members’ status and uploading to pension provider

  • Dealing effectively with queries from clients and HMRC

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Payroll bureau experience

  • Excellent numeracy and communication (verbal and written) skills

  • Evidence of being a proactive, hands-on team player who is confident in working to changing priorities in a busy department

  • A natural organiser with a keen eye for detail and accuracy

  • Flexibility (busy periods will require working longer hours to meet deadlines)

  • Knowledge of PAYE

  • MS office (intermediate Excel)

  • Working knowledge of computerised payroll software (Cyberaid Teamtrak advantageous but training provided)

  • Ideally CIPP qualified or working towards it
