An Outstanding Secondary School located in the London Borough of Barnet are seeking a History NQT.

The secondary school is an outstanding school in many ways, academically, behaviorally and the ethos makes it a safe and teachers enjoy working at the school and staff retention is high.

The Head is interested in interviewing teachers to fill a full-time post starting September 2017.

The ideal candidate will have a 2:1 degree in History with a PGCE with a good grade.

NQT Programme at the school is strong, you will have a dramatically reduced timetable as well as a single mentor to guide you through your progress to complete your Induction year.

The school aims to develop confident, independent, flexible, self-disciplined and considerate young people who have opportunities in and beyond the classroom to develop their academic, sporting, creative and leadership qualities. Behaviour is outstanding - the school has a great behaviour management policy and have clearly set boundaries in relation to what is expected of the students.

All students follow a broad and balanced curriculum at Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 there is a core curriculum as well as an extended programme of optional subjects designed to allow each student's abilities and interests to develop to the full. In the Sixth Form, students are offered a wide range of academic and vocational courses for in-depth study.

History is a very popular subject, the department aim for good grades as many students go on to progress within history based subjects at University.

During Year 7-9 the department deliver and focus on History conflict in Medieval England, Illness and Revolt in Medieval England, War of the Roses and Revolution in Medieval England.
Religion in Tudor England, Revolution and Revolt in Stuart England and Europe, Industrial Revolution in England. The department take trips to Trips to medieval sites - Hampton Court Palace/Greenwich. In Year 9 Russia Pre Revolution and the lead up to World War I, Origins of the Cold War 1943-1949.

At Year 11 and Year 12 the department cover
*Communist Russia 1917-1991 Establishment of Rule, Society and Economy.
*Communist China 1949-1976 covering - Establishment of Rule, Society and Economy.

Year 13
*Charles I - Kingship and the coming Civil War 1642-46
*Germany 1890-1990 The Civil War 1642-49 and aftermath Writing protectorate 1649-1660
*Return of King Charles II

The school is a popular school in Barnet with a very strong Senior Leadership Team and behaviour isn't a challenge within the school.
