We currently have an exciting opportunity to join our Testing Laboratories in Hemel Hempstead, working as a Test Engineer within the fenestration team working mainly on construction products.

About the Role:

This engineer position is to support and supervise in the construction sector, which includes fenestration and double glazing, the candidate will need to be able to organise a team of people with clear concise communications skills, and help take the construction department forward, leading the way with new testing, developing engineers and improving quality.

This role offers real diversity and variety, where one minute you’ll be in the lab undertaking some precision measurements and the next you’ll be discussing testing requirements with a client. Strong communication and project management skills are at the heart of this role as your act as a senior test engineer with in the team and lead testing. You’ll have constant interaction and engagement with clients at a variety of levels, from technicians to Directors. This role is perfect for an engineer with a mechanical bias who is able to apply their technical ability in a client focused role.

You'll also support the Team Manager providing quotations, managing chargeable Testing Projects, planning of Test workload through the laboratory, alignment with Lean Metrics, supervising test work on a defined range of products to agreed quality, standards and timescale.

In addition you'll review, accurate and completed test reports and contribute to evaluate test products primarily for safety, efficiency, fit for purpose and/or bespoke customer requirements.

About You:

To be successful in this role you’ll have previous experience as a testing engineer on mechanical products and have a Mechanical Engineering qualification. You'll need the skills to build relationships with our clients, understand their requirements and then deliver this work autonomously.

You’ll be managing multiple projects and audit work so strong project management skills are a must. With this you’ll need to use your strong interpersonal skills to confidently liaise with clients, and advise on the status of work to facilitate premier customer service & on-time delivery on all work and projects.

A drive for development is key as you'll be given the opportunity to develop technical skills to work across a wide variety of laboratories, equipment and standards or client bespoke requirements.

We offer a highly competitive starting salary of up to £28,000 plus an incentive scheme.
