SPR- Oncology Doctor RMO Resident Medical Officer - London

On behalf of a prestigious client, sjb medical are recruiting Specialist Oncology Resident Medical Officers (RMO)- equivalent to NHS ST4 and above (SPR Registrar level equivalent) - for a London based opportunity.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an award winning clinic specialising in complex, cancer, cardiac and neuroscience, care for both adults and children.

The role of the RMO is to work as part of the middle grade doctors team in the Oncology Ward. You will be involved in Registrar level clinical duties and will play a vital role in managing the medical care, working closely with Consultants to ensure that patients’ treatment and care needs are met. All patients are admitted under a Consultant who is responsible for management.

Working in a new ward you will play a major role in the development and success of this new service, by collaborating with the Senior Management Team to deliver the clinical strategy for cancer care services. As well as assessing, planning and delivering care to patients, you will have day to day management responsibility for the oncology ward and its staff, providing clinical medical leadership.

  • Permanent Contract
  • Work Hours: 12 hour shifts 8-8 - Days Nights and some weekends
  • Salary Guide; £55000 - £70000 pa - full time, salary dependent upon experience.
  • Part Time hours will also be considered

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide medical cover, routine and emergency during hours of duty and to act, as may be reasonably required, on instructions given by the consultants and specialist nursing regarding patients’ management in the Oncology Wards.
  • Undertake a daily ward round with Consultant Specialist ensuring patients are visited where appropriate.
  • Admit and clerk patients, take blood samples as requested, countersign any drug instructions given by the consultants over the telephone and satisfy requirements of Medication Policy throughout the hospital.
  • Undertake certain routine medical procedures as required such as; venepuncture, setting up an intravenous infusion, inserting a urinary catheter, arterial blood sampling, or ECGs
  • Take part in ward audits and research to continuous improve and strive for excellence, for staff and patients.

Skills & Experience

  • Management of acute related emergencies. MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Fully Registered with the GMC and current licence to practice.
  • SPR/Registrar Level practice experience or equivalent essential in Oncology
