Job Description:

Our client is a charity which helps young people achieve their potential; supporting unemployed people of any age into work; and people facing multiple barriers to find employment. The trading arm, promotes hospitality, leisure and tourism as a great place to work and provides specialist services to businesses to attract talent and support HR and CSR priorities. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our clients team as an Business Development Director.

As a key member of the Senior Executive Board, the Business Development Director has overall responsibility for both income generation and the relationship management of all funders.

The Business Development Director will work closely with the Chief Executive to develop, direct and deliver on the whole Business Development Programme including Corporate relationships and sponsors, Trusts and Foundations, Statutory Funders, Major Donors and overall management of the clients events calendar.

The role plays a leading role in the strategic management and operation of the company including developing and implementing strategic aims, monitoring team performance against objectives and ensuring effective income generation.

This role also incorporates promoting and selling Business Partnership services to the Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism sector and working closely with the sector in order to secure funds to achieve the company's Charitable aims and objectives. Therefore knowledge of the Hospitality, Leisure and Tourism sector is desirable.

Skills and experience required:

  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with particular emphasis on the ability to put across persuasive arguments in a congenial manner both the written and spoken format
  • Presentation skills
  • The ability to set, manage and deliver an annual budget
  • The ability to cost projects and ascertain financial viability and risk

Project Management

  • Strategic insight, the ability to think ahead and plan the work of self and others
  • The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • The ability to manage of a number different projects at any one time

Technology

  • Knowledge of Salesforce or similar CRM platform
  • Excellent database and word processing skills, competence in powerpoint and Excel.
