Your new company
Your new company is a specialist creative college who are able to offer genuinely personalised learning, delivered in small classes by tutors with real industry experience and a passion for helping and inspiring young people. With a focus of quality, experiential teaching and learning, they draw on the creative environment to enrich curriculum, arrange trips and guest speakers, as well as work experience and live project briefs for real local clients. They are ideally placed in Sussex to generate links with the creative industries, which in the UK generates 6% of GDP and makes up the largest Creative sector in Europe. They also provide KS4 provisions for English, Maths, and ICT and/or Vocational subjects through partnerships with various schools and organisations around Sussex.
Your new role
In your new KS4 alternative provision tutoring role, you will be working 3 days a week to support and engage young people 14-16 years old who may not have thrived in mainstream education. Working with a support tutor, you will develop the learners functional skills of English, Maths & ICT, to a level which will enable progress to employment, education or training post 16. Many of the young people accessing this provision have complex needs, may display challenging behaviour and have experienced multiple barriers to accessing education. The learners arrive with between Entry Level 1 and Level 2 attainment in Maths and English.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this role, you will have a teaching qualification and be able to confidently deliver English, Maths and ICT sessions. You will be resilient and approachable to build positive relationships with young people, skilled in managing challenging behaviour. You will be inventive and dedicated to learning with at least 2 years' experience of teaching within an accredited learning environment, the ability to plan, deliver and assess engaging and effective programmes of learning, adapt sessions to learners needs. You will also have experience of embedding functional skills and personal social development into vocational learning programmes.
