The Company: I am currently working on behalf of an industry leading, nationally renowned wealth management firm working within HNW/UHNW circles who are looking to add a Senior, Qualified Paraplanner to their technical team of 6. To be based from their South Sheffield site they require a technical paraplanner who can come into their team and provide consultative support to multiple high performing advisers across predominantly private wealth advice. The advisory team houses 30 people and a back office team of circa 15 staff, inclusive of administration staff support the volume of workload coming in nationally. The wealth management arm is the area of the business where growth plans are afoot, with adviser numbers increasing alongside a focused new business development plans which is bred on a service led, client-centric proposition.
The Role: Reporting into the Head of Advice the role itself will sit within their research/report writing team of 6 and work closely alongside advisers on a consultative basis to provide private with advice to help them achieve their financial goals. Specifically, the advisory team work extensively in the areas of investments, pensions and protection/life planning with the remit requiring a ‘pure’ paraplanning skill-set. A typical portfolio would be in the £500k-£5m region with some UHNW individuals on the books and the crux of the role is research and bespoke report writing focused providing a technical support function alongside the client facing adviser. Duties & responsibilities include:
- Prepare suitability letters, reports and recommendations for holistic and transactional financial planning areas including pensions, investments, IHT, protection and specialist products
- Prepare illustrations/proposals and undertake research to support recommendations
- Undertake pension reviews and recommendations
- Undertake Income drawdown reviews and recommendations
- Undertake Investment reviews and recommendations
- Prepare cashflow models
The Person: Applicants must have detailed knowledge of the private wealth sector as this is an absolute pre-requisite for the client. Candidates will be minimum QCF level 4 Diploma qualified, ideally working towards Chartered as over 50% of their adviser workforce is QCF level 6/Chartered at present. Bespoke training packages will be put in place for the right person though and my client is keen to encourage applications from anyone with 2 years+ paraplanning experience, coupled with advisers looking to take a step into the back-office support function.
