Head Chef Vacancy

We have an exciting opportunity to join our kitchen as a Head Chef. We are looking for a creative, ambitious and energetic full time Head Chef to work aprox 45-50 hours a week, (split shifts including weekends) in a very busy food led country pub with a fantastic food reputation, situated in a traditional village 5 miles outside of Salisbury.


• Proven working experience as a head chef

• Excellent record of kitchen management

• Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently

• Capable of delegating multiple tasks

• Communication and leadership skills

• Keep up with cooking trends and best practices

• Up to date with latest Health & Safety legislations

• Able to work in a team and manage the kitchen without leadership

• Basic food hygiene level 2

• An ability to delegate appropriately

• A grasp of profit margins & costings

• Experience and knowledge in ordering and stock check

• Storing produce correctly

Key responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and presenting dishes following the Owner/ Head Chef method & instruction

• Managing and training any demi-chef de parties or commis if working with you

• Assisting the Owner to develop new dishes and menus

• Ensuring you and your team have high standards of food hygiene and follow the rules of health and safety

• Monitoring portion and waste control to maintain profit margins

• Costing dishes for menu’s

• Rectify any arising problems or complaints

• Give prepared plates the "final touch"

• Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

• Good personal time management

• Maintain a positive and professional approach with co-workers and customers

A successful candidate will be working alongside the owner and current Head chef to create exciting seasonal dishes for the main menus, themed events, private dinners and large parties.
