About The Role
Halfords Autocentres are a Top 25 Sunday Times employer, we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the Finance Team based at our Support Centre in Redditch.
As an Assistant Management Accountant you will play a key role in the preparation of the monthly management accounts, centre profit & loss accounts, and group reporting. Actively seek to improve all aspects of financial reporting across numerous stakeholders, and carry out in-depth analysis of financial performance and key variances.
Act as a business partner to the Commercial team in respect of purchasing agreements, rebate structure and improving compliance. Particular focus on COGS and margin reporting, seeking continuous improvement in this area. Manage the end to end process relating to suppliers rebates from a financial/accounting perspective.
What will the role involve?
You will play a key role in preparation of monthly reporting including:
Monthly management accounts
Balance sheet, Cash flow and Capex reporting
Consolidation of group companies
You will provide information for quarterly external reporting required for London Stock Exchange, support the statutory audit process, providing accurate information to Auditors and maintaining financial control of responsible areas and conduct detailed variance analysis of cost of sales and gross margin % for good/poor performing centres.
You will have ownership of the cost of sales/margin process and all associated financial provisions, produce weekly margin reports and investigation of key issues and have financial control of supplier rebates to include; monitoring, calculations, provisions, billing and analysis - liaising with Commercial team and key supplier accounts.
Part of this role will be preparing VAT returns, to include monthly detailed analysis and direct liaison with Halfords Group Tax manager, daily sales reporting to key stakeholders within Autocentres and Halfords Group, including executive board members.
You will have involvement in the budgeting and forecasting process for relevant cost areas, support the Head of Financial Reporting with budgeting for other cost areas where required and carry out maintenance of SAP data (hierarchy, new/closed centres, GL codes, GRR3 reporting amendments).
What skills are we looking for?
You will be AAT qualified or part way through your professional accountancy examinations, have a highly analytical mind, be capable of working independently and generate your own ideas in order to offer added value to the stakeholders.
You will have the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, and offer support in a wide range of areas throughout finance and non-financial departments, be a team player and support the finance teams objectives of delivering great results and being highly engaged.
We are looking for someone to have willingness and enthusiasm to progress and succeed within the business. Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel. SAP experience would be beneficial but is not essential. The ability to build and develop good working relationships with key stakeholders including; Autocentres Board of Directors, operations/regional managers, and Halfords Group senior managers.
