Salary is negotiable depending on experience, but likely to be in the range £65-75K. The working environment is first class, and a comprehensive benefits package includes generous bonus, c. £8K car allowance and 25 days holiday. Financial support may be available for candidates relocating to take up the opportunity.

In this role you will be leading the Clinical Trial technology services category within Global R&D Procurement. The successful candidate will already possess relevant life science / pharma sector experience – ie. Knowledge of clinical trials and emerging technologies.

Through procurement strategy development and supplier management, you will play a key role in helping the business to fully leverage existing and developing technologies for Clinical Trials, thereby ensuring Global Development to continue to deliver one of the strongest product pipelines in the industry. Your responsibilities will include:

Development and implementation of sourcing strategy, including the potential use of technology services to drive faster, higher quality and more efficient clinical trials
Running global sourcing processes and leading negotiations globally with service providers for financial and contractual – e.g. liability, supply terms, IP protection, sustainability.
Leading global internal decision processes on sourcing options - e.g. supplier selection, Make or Buy process)
Be recognised as a centre of expertise for given categories
Establish and engage a network of internal experts and stakeholders
Perform professional supplier management and supplier development
Support the development of optimized supplier portfolios and perform supplier evaluations and risk analysis
Perform professional global supplier market research
Identify and select alternative suppliers and be aware of technological innovations for pharmaceutical services for Development.
Monitor compliance on all procurement related activities

The successful candidate will have:

At least 5 years’ procurement and / or supplier side experience, gained within a major pharmaceutical company or a relevant supplier
An understanding clinical development process and of the related service supplier industry
The ability to establish strong credibility with both internal and external colleagues and vendors based on previous experience is a pre-requisite
Negotiation skills to ensure that all contract negotiations are conducted effectively and with consistency
Effective communication and relationship building skills
Strong analytical and influencing skills
