Quality Engineer

Leicester, days, £25000

Would suit an ambitious quality inspector, with a good grasp of quality engineering, added value activities and initial inspection reporting.

  • Reducing PPM’s, improving process and tooling capability and ensuring timely project completions.

  • Understand the end use of the supplied product

  • Working with the supply base to affect a better quality of supply.

  • Generate VA/VE opportunities using lean methods to remove waste.

  • Manage new tool launches, re-tools and tool modifications related to engineering changes.

  • Undertake vendor appraisals

  • Take part in external audits

  • To co-ordinate and communicate corrective actions to suppliers and ensure they are carried out

  • To perform Machine Capability Studies and SPC on critical processes.

  • To be responsible for receipt, identification and driving to conclusion customer and supplier quality concerns.

  • To maintain customer, supplier and internal quality performance data,

  • To co-ordinate and communicate corrective actions for customer and supplier concerns.

  • To deputise for the Quality Manager in his absence.

  • To introduce new quality initiatives within the production environment.

  • Assist the Quality Manager in resolution of internal quality concerns.

  • Conduct internal audits, issue reports and follow up on the actions

  • Liaising with all areas of the company to assess actions on non-conformance, ensuring root cause analysis takes place, and effective corrective actions are undertaken

  • Reporting on quality performance against set objectives

  • Reviewing supplier performance and maintenance of the approved supplier list

  • Improving company systems and processes

  • Liaison and query resolution with both suppliers and customers
