Business Development Manager (Electrical) Chelmsford 40k to 45k plus Performance Related Pay

Electrical background, experience in similar environment

Full driving licence

Direct sales experience including pricing works

Confidence in establishing new client relationships

Sound technical knowledge and the ability to innovate

Project management experience

Strong negotiation and presentation skills

Job Description

  • Identifying and targeting new business development opportunities with new and existing clients and prospects
  • Building on existing client relationships to maximise new business opportunities
  • Managing procurement portals to identify new opportunities
  • Creating successful bids, PQQ’s and tenders
  • Bringing in new accounts for existing core services
  • Developing new income streams per new business strategy
  • Maintaining and developing a client and prospect database
  • Planning, preparing and delivering presentations and face to face meetings
  • Surveying and pricing jobs where required
  • Gathering market and competitor intelligence and feedback on tenders not won
  • Working with the marketing administrator to ensure promotional literature, website and social media activities effectively support business development activities

Person Specification

  • An experienced client facing sales person
  • Target driven and sales focused
  • Desire to build lasting relationships with clients
  • Knowledgeable on electrical contracting and/or has a good electrical understanding

Skills and experience

Essential

Electrical background, experience in similar environment

Direct sales experience including pricing works

Excellent written/verbal communication and ability to write successful tenders

Confidence in establishing new client relationships

Sound technical knowledge and the ability to innovate

Project management experience

Strong negotiation and presentation skills

Drive and persistence to generate business

Full driving licence

Desirable

Knowledgeable on M&E contracting

Understanding of marketing principles

Experience of public sector procurement as well as tendering commercial projects

Ability to bring existing contacts to this role

Electrical qualifications and understanding of regulations
