Position: Graduate Transport Planner

DUTIES: Reporting to senior members of staff, you will be part of project teams of transport planners, engineers and technicians engaged on a range of transport related studies, scheme evaluation and preparation of reports (TA’s, TS’s, Travel Plans, Design and Access Statements etc.) to support and promote new development and infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will include but may not necessarily be restricted to the following:

·Assisting colleagues with a range of transportation projects (private/public sector) to the specification and timescale requirements of the projects

·Assist with research associated with transport studies and transport assessments and undertaking site visits (as necessary)

·Organising, procuring and checking traffic surveys; transport modelling (Linsig, Arcady, Oscady, Picady and other programs as are applicable to specific projects) with support and assistance from other staff experienced in modelling

·Assisting with the preliminary layout arrangements of highway and junction schemes and checking compliance with DMRB, MfS and local design guides

·Preparing for and attending (alone or accompanied) meetings as requested by the Line Manager, Clients or other third parties (Local Planning Authorities, Local Highway Authorities, Public Transport Operators et al)

·Assisting with the preparation of Technical Reports (main text, appendices, figures and drawings)

·Assistance with the preparation of Travel Plans and Travel Plan Co-ordination

·A commitment to Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and attendance on courses/seminars (as identified and agreed with the Line Manager)

·Attending to general administrative requirements in respect of job documentation (work files, computations, preliminary drawings etc.)

·Maintaining daily diary records of all work undertaken and reference to appropriate job codes; promptly completing and returning weekly on-line timesheets

·Maintenance of personal competency and knowledge of specialist topics and current best practices in transportation planning
