Business Development Manager

London based Head Office with regular travel between National/Regional key account and prospect sites

Generating and securing new business, exploring new avenues of activity and seeking opportunities that the company can exploit on its continued growth path.

The Business Development Manager would be responsible for the financial management of projects, putting together bids and tenders for new contracts, negotiating and agreeing contracts in excess of £1m and ensuring complex implementation plans are roll out in full and within agreed timescales

Overview

The working hours for this position will be an average of 45 hours per week working Monday to Friday - 08:30 to 17:15 - there maybe occasions due to role objectives, that later working is required and over nights stays are inevitable but kept to a minimum where possible.

Ideally the Business Development Manager Will:

1. Be a person who's attitudes, conduct and demeanour reflects the organisations values and who is able to effectively represent the company

2. Be a person who is accustomed to working with senior management and clients

3. Be a person able to work on their own initiative and be able to schedule workload to meet priorities

4. Be an experienced professional with extensive knowledge of the food delivery sector, management and operations

5. Be a strong people manager, who is focused and has experience in getting the best out of people especially with well honed skills on implementing non standard niche contracts accurately

Main Duties

• Immobilize new business contracts in a structured, organized and efficient method

• Assuming responsibility for Contract Lifecycle Management of key UK strategic supply contracts, supporting the up-stream activity of developing a contract implementation plan and contract pre-award

• The role will support the delivery of incremental supplier performance continuous improvement and the eradication of contract cost creep evidenced via supplier performance scorecards

• The development of strategic supplier relationships is fundamental in order to expedite the delivery of a formal Supplier Relationship Management programme

• Be making a material contribution to improving the returns on contracts

• Have good food delivery and contract knowledge within a practical application

• Have practical experience of assisting with mobilising new contracts, or delivering proposed solutions

• Be able to create productions of financial and management reports

• Regular distribution of account MI to key accounts

Key Responsibilities

• Working with Senior Management to build and deliver the business plan for the region

• Management and development of existing relationships

• Building client base

• Point of contact for all inbound new business queries

• Provide an exceptional level of customer service

• Implement new sales and marketing campaigns

• Help educate the wider team and empower them to solve their clients’ needs

• Arrange client meetings.

• Provide logistic solutions feedback and identify needs of advisers’ clients and communicate to the relevant business line

• Aid flow of information from Business Line Managers

• Improve internal systems to ensure the team works in an efficient way

• Presentations to clients

• Constantly improve product and industry knowledge

• Building a personal relationship with key staff

• Grow the business through cold calling and generate a strong sales pipeline

• Create action plans to win over new business and solidly close new business deals

• Represent the company through face to face client meetings

• Write and present regular sales reports and client proposals

• Effectively answer any client queries and maximise sales possibilities

• Manage a portfolio of existing accounts

• Analyse data from customer service reports
