Our client in Manchester are currently looking to recruit a Design Technology Technician to start in immediately on a full time basis for 1 year.

Reporting into the Head of Design Technology the main purpose of this role is to provide technical support in Design Technology.

Main Task
1. To ensure the safety and well being of all students and to report any safeguarding or child protection concerns through the school's reporting procedures. To contribute to the safety and well being of colleagues

2. To prepare materials for use in lessons

3. To assist with the day-to-day organisation within the Design technology Department

4. To share in the responsibility for security in the department

5. To ensure machines, tools and equipment are maintained appropriately and in compliance with current Health and Safety regulations.

6. To assist with stock control, sourcing and ordering resources for the department

7. To assist the maintenance of general school equipment as appropriate

8. To undertake photocopying as required

9. To be aware of current Health & Safety regulations

10. To undertake other duties as required in line with the grade and responsibilities of the post

The successful applicant will:
1. Have relevant Experience of using engineering equipment and machinery, including centre lathes, pillar drills, band & circular saws, as well as experience of CNC and basic electricals eg etch tank, PCB manufacture, laser cutters and 3 D printers, preferably in a school environment.

2. Have numeracy and literacy skills of at least equivalent to NQF level 2: good ICT skills are also desirable.

3. Have knowledge of relevant health and safety risks in the design technology area and ensure tools, machines and equipment are maintained appropriately.

4. Be a good team player with effective inter-personal and communication skills

5. Be professional, flexible and innovative with experience of undertaking a wide variety of duties and an ability to deal skilfully with unanticipated situations

6. Be able to demonstrate an ability to work unsupervised using their own initiative

7. Be well organised with an adaptable and positive approach to all aspects of their work.

Experience of working in a school environment is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided on safeguarding and school specific IT applications where required.
