Our Client is a Global trader of Crude Oil and Oil Products based in central London. In your role as the Junior Ship Operator, you will ensure cargoes are transported safely and efficiently and act as a coordinator and liaison between the Traders, Cargo desk, Chartering and Vessel Owners via the brokers.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares documentation, maintains records and coordinates logistics of the cargo transportation
  • Coordinates and liaises with Traders, Cargo Operators on load and discharge requirements
  • Coordinates with overseas offices on discharge logistics
  • Liaises with Master / Charterers & Owners via shipbrokers on voyage management
  • Ensures all entries in the Trading systems are entered timely and accurately
  • Ensures complete familiarity of ongoing charter parties and relevant contracts, ensuring Owners and Masters comply with the same
  • Maintain P&L and act proactively to protect the same from any adverse swings
  • Handling of cargo claims and other ancillary claims
  • Creating freight invoices and other non-demurrage voyage claims
  • Prepare and issue relevant reports as required
  • Participate in internal meetings
  • Ensure a high standard of Operational Excellence is maintained always
  • Any other tasks that the company may reasonably assign to this role from time to time, according to business requirements

COMMUNICATIONS AND RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internal: Charterers, Traders, Cargo Operators, Legal, Claims, Demurrage, Finance, Cargo Assurance, IT and Overseas offices
  • External: Masters, Owners, Charterers, Shipbrokers, Service Providers

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE

Qualifications:

  • Min. Bachelors Degree in Commercial, Shipping or Economic studies
  • Competent MS Office skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Knowledge of petroleum cargoes is essential
