Business Development Manager

Flexible base - South Wales Head Office

£60,000 plus car and uncapped commission

We are delighted to be working with this privately owned, well established, successful and innovative engineering business. Our client occupies an enviable position within their industry; being market leader, supplying almost all of their target audience. They successfully engineer a complex product that can lend itself to many applications for variety of high profile customers, across a range of industries.

Based in South Wales, they have recently overhauled and invested heavily in their production facility; implemented slicker processes and procedures that have resulted in a better quality product, an increase in output two-fold and an engaged workforce.

With a strong, expert management team in place, their 5-year plan demonstrates ambition to grow the business significantly; through developing new products, new markets and new countries.

In order to support these strategic growth plans there exists a unique and exciting opportunity for an exceptional, highly talented Business Development Manager with a proven track record in strategic sales. Reporting to the MD, this role will be highly autonomous; the successful candidate will have free reign to identify new market and product areas across an untapped market within the UK and EU.

You will:

  • Identify and build relationships with local and international clients; presenting and selling a range of highly technical and innovative solutions.
  • Play a pivotal role, along with the MD, in the creation and implementing of new company branding and marketing strategy.
  • Along with other key internal stakeholders, scope, design and cost new products to take to market.
  • Manage and lead on relevant commercial negotiations, for example: contract changes, scope change, delay and disputes.

This role is instrumental and pivotal in the growth and success of the business and, therefore, requires a natural business development professional with a demonstrable track record of strategic international sales/business development within a technical/engineering environment. A sound understanding of producing technical drawings with a proven commercial awareness is a given for this individual. As is the ability to self-generate contacts and tenacity to convert these in to new business. Experience of working internationally and a willingness to travel regularly to Europe is also a must.
